Our dental team are invested in building long term support for our patients. Not only through quality treatment within the practice but also by providing our patients with the tools and knowledge to support their own home dental care.
Our main focus is on preventative dental care and maintaining complete oral health. By providing regular appointments and education we aim to empower our patients involvement in their own long term dental health.
First established in 1949 by Mr Robin Jackson, 95 Dundas Street was not only a Dental practice but also the Jackson family's home. His son, Keith, joined the family business in 1986 converting the whole of the premises to solely a dental practice. Iain Gillies BDS joined the practice after Mr Jackson Snr retired in 1992 and his wife, Angela Gillies EDH, joined shortly after as our hygienist. The practice then became Jackson Gillies Dental Surgery and has remained so until Keith Jackson's retirement.
We are a small, very committed team with plans for expansion. Mr Iain Gillies BDS is our dentist and Mrs Angela Gillies EDH is our hygienist. A husband and wife partnership following the practice family orientated tradition. Our longstanding practice manager Evelyn Calder, who has been with the practice since Mr Robin Jackson Snr was in charge, and our newest member and dental nurse, Callie Reid have both worked extremely hard through the ever changing restrictions during the Covid pandemic.
All of our team are registered with the General Dental Council (GDC), and adhere to the professional standards set by the regulatory body.

Our practice is a welcoming, safe, caring and respectful environment. We understand that each patient is an individual and will have different needs to any other patient. We try to tailor your care, where possible, within our practice and do our very best in helping you to achieve optimal dental health. If this is unachievable within the practice then we will reach out to other specialist providers to arrange suitable care.
The practice is well equipped and includes 2 modern surgeries and sterilisation room. A modern spacious waiting room and toilet facilities. A welcoming reception/office and other staff areas.
All of our patients will regularly receive a full mouth examination, including cancer screening and radiographs (if required). A treatment plan containing the following options will be offered:
Our experienced hygienist also offers a range of treatments that include:
We currently offer 3 main payment types for adults over the age of 26, which are reviewed annually.
This is a pay as you go method of paying. After your dental examination the dentist will provide you with a treatment plan and a cost estimate with a breakdown of each item. Feel free to contact the practice to request a copy of our most recent and up to date price list.
This plan spreads the cost of treatment by setting up monthly direct debit payments covering routine dental care. The payments range from £16-£55 per month and are calculated following a full mouth assessment. The plan encourages patients to attend regularly for routine, preventative, maintenance appointments reducing the need for dental treatment long term.
A supplementary insurance plan is provided to cover some costs towards treatment due to injury or dental emergency in the UK and abroad.
The practice still provides NHS treatment to a number of NHS patients (registered with Iain) but are unable to take on new NHS patients at this time.
Under the new NHS Dental Reform, that was introduced 1st November 2023, patients are entitled to an Extensive Exam every 12 months or 18-24 months depending on the patients individual needs.
In Scotland children and young adults under the age of 26 are still eligible for free dental treatment.
